Minecraft Can’t Open Inventory

If you’re reading this, you’re probably one of the many Minecraft users feeling frustrated about the fact that your inventory simply refuses to open!

While many users have reported being unable to open creative inventory such as chests, barrels and tables; others are unable to see the inventory bar at all.

In this post, I’ll give you some suggestions that could help you through the troubleshooting process to fix the issue.

How To Fix Minecraft Can’t Open Inventory

This issue usually happens when you open the inventory while riding a horse. After you get down, you will not be able to open the inventory and the bar goes missing.

Plus, if the server host does it, the same will happen to all the users in the world and they can’t open it either.

Unfortunately there’s nothing much we could do other than not opening the inventory while riding, but hopefully this glitch will be fixed in the next update.

If the reasons for your issue has nothing to do with a horse, try the following fixes below:

Inventory Bar Disappeared In Java Edition

If you are unable to view the inventory bar on your screen, simply press F1. Ideally, this should result in the hidden HUD being displayed.

However, if it does not pop up, try fixing the issue manually by clicking on the main settings and ensuring “Hide HUD’’ has not been toggled.

If both of the options above do not seem to work, closing and re-opening the app is definitely worth a shot.

Inventory Bar Disappeared In Bedrock Edition

Anyone using the Bedrock edition should try pressing E on the keyboard of their PC.

However, if this does not seem to work, click on settings and navigate to the “Mouse and Keyboard” settings option. Next, scroll down till you see ‘’Inventory’’.

Having clicked on it, make sure E is selected as the key that will open Inventory (or feel free to edit it by setting it to a key of your choice!).

Other Fixes For Minecraft Can’t Open Inventory

If the issue isn’t as straightforward as toggling the inventory bar, try the following fixes and check if any of them works for you.

Try The RIGHT Shift Button

By right I am in fact referring to the shift button on the right-hand side of your keyboard.

Although a lot of us are used to the shift button on the left-hand side while gaming or using our PCs in general, it will not help you with this bug.

Try The RIGHT Shift Button

Simply opting for the shift button on the right side instead, has shown to be one of the easiest solutions to this problem.

Although this has worked for some gamers, others beg to differ. Do give it a go and continue reading if it does not work.

Record And Report The Bug

While developers dedicate an immense amount of time to ensure users have the best experience, it is only human to overlook a few issues- those that may not even be identifiable until hundreds or thousands of individuals are playing the game.

Therefore, record and report such issues as soon as possible.

Fortunately, there are forms available to make the reporting process increasingly convenient. Simply visit the link below and select the correct form based on your network (For both Java and Bedrock).

Final Thoughts

Issues like these are often problems with the game code and there’s really nothing much we do than reporting it on mojang and wait for them to fix it in the next update.

In the meantime, we could avoid doing what would replicate the error.
